Lingsoft celebrates European Day of Languages

Lingsoft to celebrate European Day of Languages and highlight the themes of multilingualism and linguistic accessibility. Clear language combined with multilingual and multi-channel communications make digital services available to all, whether the services relate to one’s own health data, TV programmes or EU legislation.

Once again, Lingsoft will be helping to run this year’s event to celebrate European Day of Languages, which will be held in the Studio at Turku Main Library on Wednesday 26 September. The event is designed for school students, teachers, students of language and everyone who is interested in and inspired by languages.

This year, the motto for the day is Kielestä kiinni – Fast i språket – Die gerettete Zunge and the central themes are multilingualism and new perspectives on language learning. Particularly in the spotlight will be the German language and Austria, which is holding the presidency of the Council of the EU for the second half of 2018. The Austrian Ambassador Maximilian Hennig will also be there in Turku to celebrate the European Day of Languages.

In the afternoon between 3pm and 5pm, the programme for the languages day includes a series of lectures which will offer interesting perspectives on topics such as language study, the multilingual daily life of schools, and international job-hunting. Lingsoft highlights the issue of linguistic accessibility in digital services. In her afternoon talk at the Main Library, Lingsoft’s Director of Customer Experience Maria Leinonen will be exploring how clear language combined with multilingual and multi-channel communications make digital services accessible to everyone, regardless of whether the services relate to one’s own health data, TV programmes or EU legislation. So digitalisation is not limited by language!
